Spanish painter and sculptor born in Madrid, living and working in France most of his life. Closely connected to the innovative artistic genre Cubism, his works are among the movement’s most distinctive ones. He was influenced by Analytical Cubism and then also Synthetic Cubism. In 1912, he participated in the exhibition of the Section d’Or group. He mainly painted still life in a calm, subdued palette of colors.

 
Initiated into the lodge “Voltaire” of Grand Orient of France in 1923.
