Widnes Sea Cadets TS Eskimo received a £400 donation from local Freemasons.
On Thursday, January 30, the Sea Cadet unit was about to call ‘Colours’ when Freemasons Kevin Poynton and Brian Boothroyd requested permission to come aboard.
Commanding Officer Lt. (SCC) Peter Kenrick RNR welcomed them and invited them to observe the ceremony.
Knowing that the Sea Cadets do not receive Armed Forces funding, the Freemasons made the visit to deliver a donation from the local branch of the Order of the Allied Masonic Degrees.
This donation was in addition to an earlier December donation of £150.
Mr Poynton and Mr Boothroyd, in naval fashion, were then given a guided tour of the facilities by the commanding officer.
Mr Poynton and Mr Boothroyd were treated to a cup of tea in the officers’ mess.
