Massachusetts/U.S. - New Bedford's Kenneth Duffie honored with 75-year Masonic award

Friends, family and fellow Masonic brothers recognized the life and accomplishments of Kenneth Duffie at a Jan. 4 ceremony, celebrating his 75 years of membership with the Star in the East Lodge of Ancient Free & Accepted Masons.

Duffie, a U.S. Navy veteran, long-time Zeiterion Theatre organist and New Bedford resident, received a pin from Adam Pimentel, the lodge’s presiding Master, that commemorated his 75-year membership.

“It was very much of a surprise to me,” said Duffie, 96, adding he was lucky enough to sign the lodge’s bylaws on his 22nd birthday. “For just some unknown reason I’m still here.”

The New Bedford native, born in 1926, joined the U.S. Navy at 18 years of age and served in the Pacific during World War II. He joined Star in the East Lodge in 1948 after…
