What child wouldn’t want to start off summer vacation with a brand new bicycle?
Thanks to the Manistee Masonic Lodge No. 228, 22 Manistee Area Public Schools students will be able to do just after the Masons awarded bikes to Kennedy and Jefferson Elementary students through the Bikes for Books program.
“All the kids read books and we set parameters based on age for how much they have to read to get a raffle ticket,” said Shawn Tomey, senior warden of Lodge No. 228. “At the end of the year they do a drawing of the raffle tickets and the more books you read the better your odds.”
