As fire raged through Rochester’s Masonic Temple building on the afternoon of Jan. 17, 1916, city officials placed an emergency call to Winona asking for help.
Rochester firefighters were having a difficult time containing the fire, which began in the basement of the Weber & Judd drug store located on the first floor of the Masonic building. Employees of the drug store had discovered the blaze at about 1 p.m.
