The Nickel Masonic Lodge of Sudbury is holding an open house this Sunday.
Located at Temple Court on Regent Street (off York Street behind the Extendicare), Nickel Masonic Lodge is one of the oldest Masonic Lodges in Ontario.
“It was formed in 1892 and is as old as the old City of Sudbury itself,” the organization notes in a release. Sudbury was first incorporated as a town in 1893.
Founding master Dr. William Howey “was amongst the first pioneers and first medical doctor to move to Sudbury Junction – later to become the City of Sudbury,” the group notes.
