Queensland/Australia – Freemasons to open lodge for Heritage Festival

Bundaberg Freemasons will throw open the lodge doors on 26 and 27 April as part of Bundaberg Regional Council’s Australian Heritage Festival celebrations.
Located at 61 Bourbong Street, the building that houses the Bundaberg Masonic Lodge has been a feature of the Bundaberg CBD for over 100 years.
Usually only accessible to fellow Freemasons, the open days provide the community an opportunity to appreciate the building’s heritage architecture, which includes an impressive pressed-metal ceiling with a rare masonic dome.
Athole Lodge Treasurer and organist, Past Assistant Grandmaster Ian Clarke, said the building was originally a grocery store and lodgings before being donated to the society by the Buss family.
