“The only thing secret about the Masons is that they have no secrets,” said Jim Blackburn, historian of the Tuckerton Lodge as he attributed the quote to Benjamin Franklin, one of Freemasonry’s historically famous members.
The Tuckerton Masonic Lodge #4 is celebrating its 200th anniversary this year, and Blackburn is the man in charge of making the occasion known. The Masons will march in the 4th of July parade this year and will hold a banquet in the Parkertown Firehouse in November, November being the month when the lodge received its warrant.
The Tuckerton Lodge was established on Jan. 20, 1820, by Ebeneezer Tucker and Dr. William K. Mason, two men who had tired of traveling all the way to Mount Holly to attend Masonic meetings there. Both Tucker, for whom Tuckerton is …
