African Masons have been strengthening their ties with their Turkish brothers via lodge twinning and reciprocal visits. Here’s our report from Istanbul’s ‘holiest of holy places’.
On the evening of 10 May, the Grand Lodge of Turkiye – the country’s largest confederation, with 18,000 members – welcomed its brothers to the annual General Assembly at its headquarters, in Istanbul’s Pera district. Two African Grand Masters made the trip: business lawyer Sylvère Koyo leading the Côte d’Ivoire delegation and Alassane Koné, head of Niger’s delegation. Others in attendance included Ali Traoré, the Grand Lodge of Burkina Faso’s number two, as well as respective members of the Grand Lodges of Congo and Mali’s board of directors, Hilarion Bounsana and Aliou Touré…
