Cumby Collegiate High School’s new building is almost ready to open. District, community and members of both the state and local Masonic lodges participated in a ceremony to dedicate the building’s cornerstone Saturday morning, Sept. 9.
Cumby Collegiate ISD Superintendent Shelly Slaughter welcomed the crowd to the event, speaking of her excitement and pride for the new building and her gratitude to for the community’s willingness to support the project through a 2021 bond election.
CCISD Board of Trustees President Jason Hudson expressed his gratituted to the Masons. Hudson explained his grandfather was a Mason for more than 65 years, and his oldest daughter received a Teacher of the Year award from Masonic Lodge No. 382.
‘We are very thankful for your servant work and serving our community as leaders and stewards,’ Hudson told the Masons present. ‘This is a blessed day, a day of Cumby history that is set by this covenant organization.’
