US/Texas - Masons conduct cornerstone setting for new LEC

Local Freemasons and the Grand Master Mason of Texas conducted a centuries-old ceremony Friday afternoon for the symbolic leveling of the cornerstone of the new Wichita County Law Enforcement Center.

Grand Master Mason of Texas Brian Dodson said the ceremony reflects more than just the brick and mortar of a structure but also how we can be spiritually level and perfect the house inside ourselves.

Texas Freemasons have leveled cornerstones for 130 courthouses in the states and hundreds of public and religious buildings.

Prior to steel-frame construction, Dodson said, large buildings were constructed using brick-on-brick methods with the most important parts being the foundation, the cornerstone and the cap stone.
